Gold Hill started as a country store. Local miners would line up outside of the store after work to pick up their 12 pack of beer to relax and enjoy the rest of their day.
My father bought Gold Hill Country Store on April 1, 1981. Phil left a legacy which reminds us that friendly customer service, a good, long conversation, and a great bottle of wine to go along with a good meal are just some of the simple pleasures of life that everyone should be able to enjoy.
In keeping with that tradition, when Gold Hill was passed down to me and my husband in 2005, our focus was to provide the best selection of imported and craft beers and fine wines to our customers.
Gold Hill has also added a variety of snack foods so our customers can replenish their coolers before hitting the road. Gold Hill loves to support local companies that make great foods right here in the state of Alaska. Our Gold Hill Express caboose is proud to serve foods from Delta Meat and Sausage Company and coffee from Raven’s Brew Gourmet Roasters.
Additionally, Gold Hill carries barrels, pumps and heating oil to keep our customers’ homes warm and toasty during the long winters. Every Friday, we offer $.10 off of fuel and gas as a ‘thank you’ to our loyal patrons.
When customers tell us they’ve found something they loved or tried something new, it really makes our day!
Stop in and visit us. You’ll see we’re more than a country store; Gold Hill has so much more!
